Getting started

1. Download the Mac app, drag it to Applications, and allow Screen Recording and Accessibility.
2. Click Connect a Device in the Mac app, then scan the QR code in the iPhone or iPad app.
3. When both screens show the same code, click Approve on your Mac.

Your device and Mac need to be on the same Wi-Fi. To connect from anywhere, install Tailscale on both and sign in to the same account.

Common problems

Laplet asks to be moved to Applications

Laplet has to run from the Applications folder. Run from the disk image or an external drive, macOS stops screen capture to ask about file access, and the connection drops after 15 seconds. Drag it to Applications and open it from there.

Can’t reach the Mac

Make sure the Mac app is running and both devices are on the same Wi-Fi or on Tailscale. Allow Local Network access for Laplet in iOS Settings.

Check Laplet’s Screen Recording permission in Privacy & Security in macOS System Settings.

The keyboard doesn’t work

Check the Accessibility permission in the same place.

The pairing code expired

A QR code works once, for 5 minutes. Create a new one in the Mac app.
