Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
Your screen and input go only between your own devices. Laplet has no accounts, and the apps contain no analytics, advertising, or tracking tools.
Data sent between your devices
The following travels only between your device and a Mac you approved. It is encrypted with TLS 1.3 and never reaches the developer or other third parties.
- Video of your Mac screen
- Keyboard and trackpad input
- Your device’s name and a device identifier, shown on the Mac’s approval screen
Screen video and input are not stored.
Data stored on your devices
- iPhone or iPad: the name and address of paired Macs, certificate fingerprints, a device identifier, and authentication secrets, all in the iOS Keychain.
- Mac: the names and identifiers of approved devices, hashes of their secrets, and the Mac’s certificate and private key, in the app’s data folder.
Camera
The camera is used only to read the pairing QR code shown on your Mac. Nothing it sees is stored or sent.
Third-party services
On the same Wi-Fi, Laplet connects your devices directly. To connect from elsewhere you can use Tailscale, a service you install and sign up for separately. It has its own privacy policy.
Subscriptions
Purchases go through Apple. The iPhone and iPad app uses RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a random anonymous ID and the purchase history tied to it, never your name or email, and has its own privacy policy.
App updates
When it starts, the iPhone and iPad app asks an update server the developer runs on Cloudflare whether an update is available. The request contains the platform, the update channel, and a fingerprint of the app’s native code. The app sends no usage statistics, and your name, email, screen, and input are never part of this request. Cloudflare handles the request data needed to answer it, such as your IP address.
This website
This website sets no cookies and has no analytics. It and the Mac app download are hosted on Cloudflare, which handles the request data needed to serve them, such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
Deleting data and withdrawing access
- Click Revoke in Laplet on your Mac and that device can no longer connect.
- Swipe a Mac in the app’s list to delete it and its stored information.
- You can withdraw camera access in iOS Settings, and Screen Recording and Accessibility access in macOS System Settings, at any time.
